Real home improvement: The Super Bowl of home and garden ...

Forget the Houston Fine Art Fair ? Reliant Center will be a veritable?home improvement paradise?this Saturday and Sunday.

The 17th annual Texas Home & Garden Show will take over three sprawling acres of the exhibition hall for the weekend event, with more than 300 exhibits on the roster and thousands of products and services for sale.?

Experts will also be on hand to guide attendees through their remodeling needs:?Daniel Millikin and Scott Snodgrass of Edible Earth Resources?will advise?on how to use edible plants in place of traditional yard landscaping; Michael Graves will teach the latest techniques in faux painting; and Jim Dutton of Texas Home Improvement radio show will bring his vast home renovation knowledge and expertise to inquiring minds.

?Also on tap at the event is the fifth annual Remolders Council Charity Garage Sale, featuring home goods donated by local suppliers.?

In the market for some appliances or hardware, granite tile or doors? Buy it up here and support local charity projects?? all proceeds from the garage sale go to benefit Habitat for Humanity, Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services and SIRE Therapeutic Equestrian Center. All unsold products will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

Once visitors get their fill of how-to workshops, home d?cor advice, kitchen and bath tips, green living and landscape demonstrations, they can swing through the neighboring exhibition hall to select some art ??perfect for hanging on those newly-sheetrocked walls.

The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $10 for adults and $9 for seniors, and children 14 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance?here.?
