Nashville, Tenn. ? (Jan. 3, 2012) ? Thousands of Nashville area residents had something to smile about in 2011, thanks to the Remington College-Nashville Campus. Students and staff in the Dental Hygiene program provided low-cost dental services for 4,458 people in 2011.
Under the supervision of Dental Hygiene faculty, students pursuing associate?s degrees in dental hygiene perform low-cost procedures for the public, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, scaling, root planing and ToothPrint child ID?s.
Each month, through the Remington College ?12 Months of Smiles? campaign, the clinic offers a special deal on services. Some months teeth cleanings are 50% off the already low prices; other months the campus provides cleanings for free. During the holidays, the campus held a drive to help senior citizens, and donors were offered free teeth cleanings; a similar effort was held in the summer for school supplies.
?We?re very proud of the number of people we were able to provide services for in 2011,? said Larry Collins, Remington College-Nashville Campus President. ?We want even more people to take advantage of our dental health services in 2012. Our low-cost preventive treatments are a great resource for people without dental insurance.?
