The ladies of Gamma Omega Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International hosted members from Delta Chapter in Monroeville and Alpha Alpha Chapter from Evergreen on Friday, November 30.
The Christmas event was held at the home of Nancy Karrick, Gamma Omega president.? The purpose of the meeting was to encourage friendships as set forth in the first purpose of the organization: To unite women educators of the world?in a genuine spiritual fellowship.
Members from each of the chapters had an opportunity to discuss projects their chapters have undertaken, share favorite program ideas, and discuss membership strategies.? District VI Director Devlynne Barnes was present as a member from the Monroeville chapter and offered insight on project ideas from her position as a school principal. Ways to help new teachers were discussed as well as mentoring new chapter members.
The international scope of the organization was highlighted with German cookies served as refreshments and introducing Japan as the newest country to join the organization.?October 14, 2012, saw Japan inducted as the 18th country and 80th state organization.?Attendees were given Japanese bookmarks as a memento of that event.
