WINNING with Meditation

The particular dictionary word regarding winning is that is the winner; successful or the winner, as in a contest: the particular winning team. It?s really a very simple concept even though if you think it as an individual create a goal when you achieve it you might have won.

Well, there is certainly much more to it next that, because your depths of the mind thinks and outline for you what ?winning? signifies, and no need to point out about the powers people subconscious mind.

If your depths of the mind doesn?t want you to ?win? in terms of wealth and money, you are not going to. Sink that.

By definition, your unconscious thoughts and its diary for your life are concealed from you, unless you have trained yourself to contact it.

So how do you educate your subconscious mind and also communicate with a positive frame of mind you agenda for lifestyle would not change significantly.

If you don?t know what its definition of ?winning? is for you right now, how can you ever move forward? So lets find out what ?winning? means to your subconscious right now?

Different ways for you to win?

1 . If a person?s aim is to just go by means of life as pleasantly as possible and don?t need stress. They don?t wish to be pushed or inhibited and don?t like discord. The just want to proceed through life as it will take, hanging out with their pals, and having a good time. Thus everything they do is always to support their comfort and ease. This is normal particular person with employee mindset, and who?s more than pleased to have a safe, secure, comfortable job.

Which means you WIN for your subconscious!!!

* If a personal primary goal in your life is to be liked by other folks. They want acceptance coming from everyone and dislike rejections, and will do what?s necessary to reach that aim. So they do any point rather be liked, as compared to be right or wrong. If someone like this in a authority role, the business/ staff will usually fail since they won?t be willing to help make hard decisions someone complain about. They always make an effort to please everyone on a regular basis because their ultimate inspiration is to be liked by other folks.

So YOU WIN for the subconscious mind!!!

* People who win by being right, don?t accept criticism and aren?t open to new ideas. They tend to reach a glass ceiling when it comes to money, their career, and relationships, because they can?t accept their short-comings in order to move past them and achieve personal growth. Arguing with this person never works because they?ll always find a way to prove you wrong, even if it means sabotaging your company in the process. All that matters is things/person must be right.

* A person is an achiever if their primary motivation is to win. They are very competitive, and will do whatever it takes to win. They won?t quit, and they?ll constantly push themselves to gain the edge they need. A person in this category describes all successful entrepreneurs and athletes. Winning is their reward, and on the dark side, some of them will go too far and compromise their integrity in order to do so. Such a person doesn?t care if others don?t like them, and they welcome discomfort because it provides them with new opportunities to win.

* If an individual wins by being the victim. They want compassion from others and therefore are always filled with issues because they don?t win unless of course they lose, so that they create circumstances as well as excuses that help all of them fulfill that future like, ?I don?t have the cash. This is just another rip-off. I?ll give it a try?Inch

Now if you?re much like me when I was subjected to this, you?re taking an extended hard look at your existence right now.

People are not necessarily wealthy because they wish to be comfortable.

People are not healthy because they want to be comfortable.

People are trapped in the same career without a promotion regarding 5/10 years because they wish to be liked.

People are hooked on struggle because they earn by losing.

a little of my personal in each of these groups. I know that, however what is important to remember, is the fact that winning is a constant process that is delivered to an end once you?ve received, think of it as an event.

When you?ve ?won?, the process begins all over again.

Once I ?m inspired by a brand new goal, I place my entire concentrate to ?winning?, which is exactly where I am right now.

I am not sure where you are at this moment in your own life, but I do know this kind of? Entrepreneurs win simply by winning, and they?ll carry out whatever it takes to fulfill in which subconscious desire. Thus what?s yours?

Cambridge, MA - Getting Caffeine Fix As Easy As Taking Deep ...

Cambridge, MA - Move over, coffee and Red Bull. A Harvard professor thinks the next big thing will be people inhaling their caffeine from a lipstick-sized tube. Critics say the novel product is not without its risks.

The product, called AeroShot, went on the market late last month in Massachusetts and New York, and is also available in France. A single unit costs $2.99 at convenience, mom-and-pop, liquor and online stores.

Biomedical engineering professor David Edwards said AeroShot is safe and does not contain common additives, like taurine, used to amplify the caffeine effect in common energy drinks. Each grey-and-yellow plastic canister contains 100 milligrams of caffeine powder, about the amount in a large cup of coffee, plus B vitamins.

But Democratic U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer of New York wants the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to review AeroShot, saying he fears it will be used as a club drug so that young people can drink until they drop. Schumer?s national press secretary did not immediately respond to calls for comment.

FDA spokeswoman Siobhan DeLancey declined to comment, saying the agency will respond directly to Schumer on the matter.

Edwards said Schumer?s comments are understandable in the context of developments over the last few years, when students looking for a quick and cheap buzz began consuming caffeine-packed alcoholic drinks they dubbed ?blackout in a can? because of their potency. But he said AeroShot is not targeting anyone under 18 and it safely delivers caffeine into the mouth, just like coffee.

?Even with coffee ? if you look at the reaction in Europe to coffee when it first appeared ? there was quite a bit of hysteria,? he said. ?So anything new, there?s always some knee-jerk reaction that makes us believe ?Well, maybe it?s not safe.??

Once a user shoots a puff of calorie-free AeroShot into his or her mouth, the lemon-lime powder begins dissolving almost instantly. Each single-use container has up to six puffs.

?The act of putting it in your mouth is the act of breathing ? so it?s sort of surprising and often people the first time they take the AeroShot, they laugh ... that it?s kind of a funny way of putting food in your mouth,? said Edwards, who also came up with a breathable chocolate product a few years back.

Dr. Lisa Ganjhu, a gastroenterologist and internal medicine doctor at New York-based St. Luke?s-Roosevelt Hospital, said people need to be aware of how much caffeine they are ingesting.

?You want those 10 cups of coffee, it will probably take you a couple hours to get through all that coffee with all that volume that you are drinking,? Ganjhu said. ?With these inhale caffeine canisters you can get that in 10 of those little canisters ? so you just puff away and you could be getting all of that within the hour.?

Even the product packaging warns people not to consume more than three AeroShots per day.

Northeastern University students who sampled the product recently gave it mixed reviews.

?This tastes really good and I think it rocks,? student Zack Huang said after puffing onto a free sample before rushing to join a group of friends who were walking away from campus.

Still, one student was not happy with the taste, echoing sentiment expressed online by some consumers.

People elsewhere vowed they would never give up their morning coffee.

?I want to brew it, I want to stir it and I want to drink it slowly as I absorb the caffeine,? said longtime coffee fan Mark Alexander.

The makers of AeroShot appear to be aware of that sentiment, declaring that the product isn?t about switching away from coffee, but rather making it easier for people with active lifestyles to get their caffeine fix.

?AeroShot can be used in a variety of settings inconvenient for liquids, such as when you study in the library, board an airplane or get into the car for a long drive,? they say in the section dedicated to frequently asked questions on their website. ?It?s easy to take AeroShot with you when you go biking, skiing, curling, or any other activity that consumes energy.?

AeroShot, manufactured in France and the flagship product of Cambridge-based Breathable Foods Inc., is the product of a conversation that Edwards had with celebrity French chef Thierry Marks over lunch in the summer of 2007.

?We were discussing what interesting culinary art experiments we might do together and I had the idea that we might breathe foods since I?ve done a lot of work over the last 10 or 15 years on medical aerosols,? Edwards said.

The first venture Edwards worked on with Harvard students was the breathable chocolate, called Le Whif. Now he?s preparing to promote a product called Le Whaf, which involves putting food and drinks in futuristic-looking glass bowls and turning them into low-calorie clouds of flavor.

Oracle rejects $272M SAP award, wants new trial

(AP) ? Database software maker Oracle is rejecting a court-ordered award for $272 million from German rival SAP, saying it would rather have another trial over SAP's theft of software and customer-support documents.

A jury awarded Oracle Corp. $1.3 billion in the case in November 2010, but a federal judge cut that amount last September. Oracle said then that it would seek a new trial.

In a Monday court filing, the U.S.-based company says it rejected the award.

SAP AG has admitted that a now-closed subsidiary, TomorrowNow, pilfered Oracle's intellectual property. Oracle argued that this helped SAP undercut Oracle for similar services. SAP said it didn't make much use of the documents and should have to pay only $40 million.

Better Through Books: The Bookshelf of a ... - Relationships For Better

Today I?m launching an exciting new series called Better Through Books!

As a psychotherapist I have an extensive collection of books on marriage and relationships.? I tend to have a high standard for these kinds of books, which is why I have relegated only two (of my fifteen) bookshelves to hold the literature I value most.

There are three qualities that a marriage or relationship book must possess to qualify for this esteemed portion of my library.

They must be:

?

1. Relevant (to current culture and my particular relationship therapy clients);

2. Rational (based on trustworthy research or intelligent logic); and

3. Readable (books I can recommend to others, so I don?t include textbooks or psychology journals).

?

Each post in this series will feature a book from my collection of favorites.

Are you interested in relationships and marriage? Or are you a friend or mentor to couples in your community? If so, I hope that this series can serve as a trustworthy source for relationship resources.

So, let?s get started!

?

My first recommendation is for The Couple Checkup by Drs. David and Amy Olson, and Dr. Peter Larson.

This books could be on my shelf for one reason alone, and that is its exceptional online relationship assessment that comes free with each book. Applicable to couples who are dating, engaged, or married, this survey asks couples a series of questions about relationship issues (e.g., communication, finances, sex, spirituality, parenting, etc) and identifies their strengths and growth areas as a couple.

Some of you may have heard of the PREPARE/ENRICH, which is an trusted relationship assessment that is frequently used in premarital counseling. In fact, it is an assessment that I am trained in, and am certified to provide in therapy sessions. The reason I am bringing up the PREPARE/ENRICH is because the authors of The Relationship Checkup are the creators of both that assessment and the online survey that comes free with this book. Although I recommend that pre-marital couples ask for their marriage counselor to administer the PREPARE/ENRICH, the Relationship Checkup survey has the flexibility of being utilized directly by couples as a supplement to therapy.

This book is all about empowering couples ? and providing another great relationship assessment is just one of way the authors meet that goal.

This book?s second benefit is that it is empowering: couples are encouraged to utilize the results of their relationship assessment to build on their strengths.? I frequently search for (and rarely find) relationship books that are positive or preventative, so I consider The Relationship Checkup to be a valuable resource.

Why not learn your strengths as a couple by reading The Couple Checkup with your partner?? As your local marriage therapist, I?m excited to see the results!

From my bookshelf to yours, I hope that your relationship is Better Through Books.

Take care,

?

Megan Lundgren, LMFT

?

P.S. To those of you who are participating in the Relationship 101 series: I will be posting Lesson 6 next week, so stay tuned!

P.P.S. I have created a Relationships For Better page on Amazon, where you will have access to all of my book recommendations as this series continues.

P.P.P.S.? Do you feel that you and your partner could benefit from relationship counseling or marriage therapy? You don?t have to wait ? it is always a good time for a relationship tuneup.? If you live in Monrovia, Arcadia, Covina, Altadena, Pasadena, or other nearby cities, book your first session by clicking on the link below! I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Scientists revive the call of a Jurassic katydid

Listen for the sound of a katydid that lived 165 million years ago, re-created after studying the structure of its fossilized wings. The image shows the artistic reconstruction of a Jurassic forest in China. (Audio: Montealegre-Zapata et al., PNAS/University of Bristol; image: Hinz et al., Palaeobidivers Palaeoenviron.)

By Alan Boyle

Researchers have re-created the love song of a katydid from 165 million years ago, based on an analysis of fossilized wings found in northwest China. They say the chirp adds an aural dimension to our picture of the forests of the Jurassic Era.

"The Jurassic forest was already packed with many animals singing at night," Fernando Montealegre-Zapata, a University of Bristol biologist who specializes in insect sounds, told me today. "I'm not just talking about the crickets but the frogs. That would create a noisy environment, and in a noisy environment the best way to communicate is with a single frequency, and loudly."

That assumption fits with the analysis conducted by Montealegre-Zapata and his colleagues, which appears in this week's Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. They started with a well-preserved Middle Jurassic fossil, one of several found by Chinese paleontologists at Inner Mongolia's Jiulongshan Formation. This particular fossil revealed the wing structure for a long-extinct species of katydid, also known as a bushcricket, which has been dubbed Archabolilus musicus.

In life, the bug would have had relatively large wings, measuring more than 2.8 inches (7 centimeters) in length, with broad stripes of color. Its closest living relatives include katydids (Tettigonidae) and grigs (Prophalangopsidae).

The researchers made detailed measurements of the fossil wing's parts, including the organs that katydids use to produce their mating calls. Scientists believe that ancient katydid, like their modern-day descendants, strummed their songs by rubbing the tiny teeth of one wing against a plectrum on the other wing.

For comparison's sake, Montealegre-Zapata and a colleague of his at the University of Bristol, Daniel Robert, analyzed the wing structures of 59 modern-day katydid species. They fed all those readings and the characteristics of the insects' songs into a mathematical model. Then they looked at where A. musicus would fit in that model.

Their conclusion, based on the size of the wing and the precise spacing of the teeth, was that the Jurassic katydid would emit a steady tone at a frequency of 6.4 kHz for 16 milliseconds. That was enough information to reconstruct the sound, which you can hear by clicking on the video button above.

T.J. Walker / Univ. of Fla.

Some of the closest modern analogs of the ancient katydid known as Archaboilus musicus are in the Cyphoderris insect family. This male specimen of the species Cyphoderris monstrosa was collected in Douglas County, Oregon.

The researchers' reconstruction has the calls coming less than a second apart, because that would be the typical frequency for species of katydids that are not threatened by bats. Paleontologists say bats were not a threat to Jurassic bugs because they didn't exist during that period.

The single-tone call would have come through loud and clear to other katydids, Montealegre-Zapata said in a news release.

"For Archaboilus, as for living bushcricket species, singing constitutes a key component of mate attraction," he said. "Singing loud and clear advertises the presence, location and quality of the singer, a message that females choose to respond to ? or not. Using a single tone, the male's call carries further and better, and therefore is likely to serenade more females. However, it also makes the male more conspicuous to predators if they have also evolved ears to eavesdrop on these mating calls."

His guess is that the Jurassic katydid was a nocturnal creature, since all present-day katydids that use musical calls are nocturnal. That would have kept the crickets from being picked off by daytime predators such as the feathered, flying Archaeopteryx. But Montealegre-Zapata said they may have made tasty morsels for bug-eating Jurassic mammals such as Morganucodon and Dryolestes (which could conceivably hear the cricket calls).

The findings strongly suggest that katydids were well-adapted for music-making during the Middle Jurassic, 165 million years ago. That led the researchers to speculate that the katydid's distant ancestors might have begun chirping more than 50 million years earlier, during the Triassic Period, thanks to "the formation of random teeth across several veins on the forewings, and the associated production of noisy sounds."

Reconstructing the ancient song of a katydid could also help answer questions about modern-day insect communications, Montealegre-Zapata said. There's quite a bit of variation to the chirps of katydids and crickets, as you'll find out if you listen to the audio clips on this webpage. Over time, musical bugs may well change their tune to suit their biggest fans and frustrate their worst foes.

Montealegre-Zapata said the reconstruction of the Jurassic katydid's love song "suggests the evolutionary mechanisms that drove modern bushcrickets to develop ultrasonic signals for sexual pairing and for avoiding an increasingly relevant echolocating predator ? but that only happened 100 million years later, possibly with the appearance of bats."

More about prehistoric sounds:

In addition to Montealegre-Zapata and Robert, authors of the PNAS study, "Wing Stridulation in a Jurassic Katydid (Insect, Orthoptera) Produced Low-Pitched Musical Calls to Attract Females," include Jun-Jie Gu, Michael S. Engel, Ge-Xia Qiao and Dong Ren.

Activists: Syrian troops pound Homs neighborhoods

BEIRUT (AP) - Activists say Syrian troops are heavily shelling neighborhoods in the restive central city of Homs.

The Local Coordination Committees activist group says Monday's bombardment hit a makeshift hospital, causing casualties.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says at least 12 people were killed in the intense shelling.

"We did not sleep all night," Majd Amer, an activist in Homs, said by telephone. Explosions could be heard in the background.

The shelling comes two days after another heavy bombardment.

Activists said Saturday's shelling was the deadliest incident of the uprising, killing more than 200 people in a single day. The regime denied any bombardment, and there was no way to independently confirm the toll.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

BEIRUT (AP)?The United States proposed an international coalition to support Syria's opposition Sunday after Russia and China blocked a U.N. attempt to end nearly 11 months of bloodshed, raising fears that violence will escalate. Rebel soldiers said force was now the only way to oust President Bashar Assad, while the regime vowed to press its military crackdown.

The threat of both sides turning to greater force after Russia and China vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution raises the potential for Syria's turmoil to move into even a more dangerous new phase that could degenerate into outright civil war.

The uprising inspired by other Arab Spring revolts began in March with peaceful protests against Assad's regime, sparking a fierce crackdown by government forces. Soldiers who defected to join the uprising later began to protect protesters from attacks. In recent months, the rebel soldiers, known as the Free Syrian Army, have grown bolder, attacking regime troops and trying to establish control in pro-opposition areas. That has brought a heavier government response.

More than 5,400 people have been killed since March, according to the U.N., and now regime opponents fear that Assad will be emboldened by the feeling he is protected by his top ally Moscow and unleash even greater violence to crush protesters. If the opposition turns overtly to armed resistance, the result could be a dramatic increase in bloodshed.

At least 30 civilians were killed Sunday, including five children and a woman who was hit by a bullet while standing on her balcony as troops fired on protesters in a Damascus suburb, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an activist group.

Government forces firing mortars and heavy machine guns also battered the mountain town of Zabadani, north of Damascus, a significant opposition stronghold that fell under rebel control late last month. Bombardment the past two days has wounded dozens and forced scores of families to flee, an activist in the town said.

"The situation is terrifying. Makeshift hospitals are full," said the activist, who only gave his first name, Fares, for fear of government reprisal. He said the town has been under siege for the past five days and there is a shortage of food and heating fuel during the cold winter.

The commander of the Free Syrian Army told The Associated Press that, after the vetoes at the U.N., "there is no other road" except military action to topple Assad.

"We consider that Syria is occupied by a criminal gang and we must liberate the country from this gang," Col. Riad al-Asaad said, speaking by telephone from Turkey. "This regime does not understand the language of politics. It only understands the language of force."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned that chances for "a brutal civil war" would increase as Syrians under attack from their government move to defend themselves, unless international steps provide another way.

Speaking to reporters in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, she called the double veto at the U.N. Security Council on Saturday "a travesty."

"Faced with a neutered Security Council, we have to redouble our efforts outside of the United Nations," she said, calling for "friends of democratic Syria" to unite "support the Syrian people's right to have a better future."

The call points to the formation of a formal group of like-minded nations to coordinate assistance to the Syrian opposition, similar but not identical to the Contact Group on Libya, which oversaw international help for opponents of the late deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. In the case of Libya, the group also coordinated NATO military operations to protect Libyan civilians, something that is not envisioned in Syria.

U.S. officials said an alliance would work to further squeeze the Assad regime by stepping up sanctions against it, bringing disparate Syrian opposition groups inside and outside the country together, providing humanitarian relief for embattled Syrian communities and working to prevent an escalation of violence by monitoring arms sales.

The main Syrian opposition umbrella group, the Syrian National Council, backed the idea.

Radwan Ziadeh, a prominent figure in the SNC, wrote on his Facebook page that friendly countries should form an "international coalition ... whose aim will be to lead international moves to support the revolution through political and economic aid."

A deeply sensitive question is whether such a coalition would back the Free Syrian Army. There appears to be deep hesitation among Western countries, fearing further militarization of the conflict.

Omar Idlibi, an activist with the Syrian National Council, said action by a "friends coalition" to increase sanctions and other steps would boost peaceful opposition through protests.

But, he said, it should also include support to the FSA, which he said would prevent civilians from taking up arms, worsening the conflict.

The FSA, he said, "is a national Syrian army and as the regime has the right to get help from its Russian and Iranian allies, it is the right of the opposition to ask for help from its friends in enabling the Syrian people to achieve change."

The FSA, based in neighboring Turkey, is believed to number several thousand soldiers and it almost daily announces claims of groups of soldiers joining its ranks that cannot be confirmed. It is heavily outgunned by the powerful regime military, which still has the power to conduct focused operations that can drive the rebels out of any areas they gain control of.

But the military cannot cover everywhere at once, and FSA troops appear to be proving effective at hit-and-run attacks and have put up staunch resistance in assaults on opposition-dominated urban areas.

On Sunday, rebel soldiers attacked a military convoy in the northwestern province of Idlib, killing 14 government troops, the Observatory said, reporting that 14 other regime soldiers were killed in fighting elsewhere.

Early Saturday, regime forces bombarded the restive central city of Homs, apparently in response to FSA attacks. Activists said the bombardment was the deadliest incident of the uprising, killing more than 200 people in a single day. The regime denied any bombardment, and there was no way to independently confirm the toll.

Gunfire continued to ring out Sunday in several neighborhoods of Homs, and at least 23 people were killed in the city and nearby towns, including three children, the Observatory said. Grisly video posted by activists online showed a young boy said to have been wounded in the shooting, his jaw torn away. The video and the Observatory's casualty reports could not be independently confirmed.

The Russian and Chinese vetoes effectively killed an Arab League plan that called for Assad to hand over power to his vice president and allow the creation of a unity government. The resolution would have expressed support for the Arab League plan, which Assad rejected.

The Syrian government touted the U.N. result as a victory.

The state-run newspaper, Tishreen, vowed that Damascus will press its crackdown aiming to restore "stability and security and confront all forms of terrorism." The regime has portrayed the uprising as the work of terrorists and armed gangs as part of a foreign conspiracy.

Hundreds of regime supporters rallied in a Damascus square, waving Russian and Chinese flags in gratitude for blocking the resolution.

"Thanks Russia, thanks China for undermining the Western conspiracy against our country," said Nibal Hmeid, a 24-year-old teacher at the rally. She said Assad should now settle the situation "decisively and militarily against those armed criminals."
